Rob Ellis is the new Faith Academy of Marble Falls baseball head coach.
Athletic director Zakk Revelle recently announced the hire.
“He’s a local Marble Falls guy for a long time,” he said. “I had no idea who he was.”
Ellis is the founder of Hill Country Renegades select baseball program that has its own facilities. Revelle drove to visit the coach on his turf after receiving a recommendation from mutual friends. The two got along so well and are so aligned that it didn’t take long for Revelle to inquire if Ellis would be interested in leading the Flames.
The answer was yes.
Revelle is thrilled to add another quality coach to a coaching staff that he believes is on par with any athletic department.
“He came with a wealth of experience,” the athletic director said. “It was definitely for him and more for us. He has great plans. He has his own facility. He has all kinds of stuff we can do.”
Players are constantly at the facility, which includes pitching machines, cages for batting and pitching, and other sport-related items. That suggests how much they enjoy the facility and how much they love and respect Ellis, Revelle said, who makes it a point to be available to help athletes improve.
Revelle spent the last two years as the baseball head coach, guiding the Flames to a district title in 2022. He committed to leading the program through the end of the 2023 season and was on the hunt to find a coach with an extensive background in the sport. Revelle wanted someone who has championships on his resume who can reflect the mission of the academy and fit right in with Faith families.
Ellis fit the bill.
And the athletic director believes the new coach will assemble finishes on the diamond the department is used to seeing on the gridiron, hardwood and track. Faith Academy has captured numerous district crowns in football, cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls tennis, and boys and girls track and field to go along with the countless regional and state titles since the school began playing sports.
“We’ve had success,” Revelle said. “We’ve been to state two times in football, we’ve won a state title in girls basketball, state titles in girls track. Finally, I feel like coach Ellis will take us to the next level in baseball. We’ve gone to a regional final in boys basketball and the final four. I think he’s the guy to get it done.”
